USA Today: Obama to focus on insurance companies this week

From USA Today: The Obama administration is starting a new phase in its health care campaign this week -- zeroing in on insurance companies.

Today in Portsmouth, N.H., Obama will criticize the practice of refusing coverage on account of pre-existing conditions.

Karen Ignagni, president of America's Health Insurance Plans, said her group has already proposed a plan to address Obama's concerns.

"Our proposal includes new consumer protections and market rules to guarantee coverage for pre-existing conditions, discontinue basing premiums on a person's health status or gender, and get everyone covered through a personal coverage requirement," she said in a statement.
